The new methods will see tax validity checked courtesy of an electronic record, which will allow authorities to examine various road users’ status simply by searching for their registration. It’s a system is geared towards saving millions of pounds for the tax payer, providing a host of additional buying options and staving off those privy to dodging their tax responsibilities.

But according to a study conducted by ITV, almost half of the drivers in Wales were unaware of the upcoming changes that will be valid from 1st October. In addition, findings ascertained by the website money.co.uk (h/t the Daily Mail), suggest just shy of a third of motorists won’t even bother to find out what they are!

They should do though, because failure to heed to the new regulations could see fines dished out of £1,000. And for drivers that change cars, it’s vital to fully update their records to save a penalty in respect of a vehicle that they no longer own. Also, for those selling cars, it’s critical that the DVLA are immediately informed of any change of ownership.
